  • allowed the installation of Kickstart 2.0 ROMs before Commodore released the 2.04 chip for the A500 / A2000
  • eight sockets for 27512 EPROMs (= 512 kB in total) with access time ≤ 200 ns (recommended by the manufacturer: ≤ 150 ns)
  • three options, depending on the requirements:
    • 1. store a 512 kB Kickstart (≥ 2.04) - all 8 EPROM slots occupied
    • 2. store a 256 kB Kickstart (Kickstart 1.2 or 1.3) - only 4 EPROMs used
    • 3. store two 256 kB Kickstarts (Kickstart 1.2 or 1.3) - all 8 EPROM slots occupied
  • external switch to select between Kickstarts
  • connects to the Kickstart socket, the original Kickstart chip is placed onto the board
  • in the A2000-A, it might be needed to raise the card with 40 pin sockets as it may collide with the MMU slot
