  • provides 2 or 4 MB of additional RAM
  • 4 SIMM sockets
    • takes 1 MB SIMMs in pairs
    • supports 80 or 100 ns SIMMs
    • 2 MB: socket U3 + U5 have to be occupied
  • 1 or 2 MB of the total RAM are Chip RAM, depending on the Agnus revision
  • FastRAM can be autoconfigured, or added manually via AddMem
  • installation is complicated and involves cutting traces on the Amiga motherboard and soldering wires to the GR-2 adapter board
  • RAM present in the A500 (512kB) can be utilised as FastRAM - 2 additional wires have to be soldered from the RAM chips to the AX-RAM board
  • the main board connects to the trapdoor slot
  • the adaptor board GR-2 connects to Gary's socket (Gary has to be replaced on the board)
  • disable switch, has to be connected to the AX-RAM and GR-2 board
  • battery backed up clock
  • jumper settings:
    • Main Board JP2: ON - 2M Agnus OFF - 1M Agnus
    Main Board JP3: ON - 4MB installed OFF - 2MB installed
    GR-2 J1: 1-2 - AutoConfig 2-3 - AddMem
    GR-2 J2: 1-2 - 2M Agnus 2-3 - 1M Agnus
