    Sound Sampler
  • 8 bit stereo audio digitizer
  • separate microphone and line inputs:
    • 2× 3.5mm mono jack for microphone signals
    • 2× RCA jack for line level input signals
  • switch selects between the inputs
  • two separate A/D converters
  • independent level controls (gain potentiometers) for each channel at the front panel
  • maximum sampling rate: 56 kHz (limited by Amiga parallel port)
  • hardware supports sampling rate in excess of 300 kHz
  • flat bandwidth 100 Hz - 50 kHz
  • wide tolerance to DC offset and signal levels
  • very low noise
  • manual DC Bias adjustment at the back side
  • connects to the Amiga via the parallel port with passthrough port (switch at the front panel)
  • supplied with Audio Engineer I or II by RamScan
    AudioEngineer I (1990)
  • program samples into FastRAM and utilizes all memory, allowing very large samples
  • cut / copy /paste
  • pitch correction
  • frequency cut boosting
  • loop creation
  • echo, delay, flange realtime effects (directly applied to output signal)
  • manual edit of waveform (drawing by mouse)
  • waveform combine
  • reverse
  • resample function allows changing the waveform to different sampling rate
  • multi loop facility (sample sequencer)
  • stereo oscilloscope display
  • output formats: IFF 8SVX, extended IFF, compressed IFF, Aegis Sonix
  • software also supports other samplers like A.M.A.S., FutureSound 500, Perfect Sound or StarSound
    AudioEngineer II (1991)
  • features of the previous version, plus:
  • 4 times oversampling to reduce aliasing
  • real-time pitch shift
  • digital filtering (graphic equalizer)
  • progress meters
  • real-time zoom in/out
  • time compression / expansion
  • increased speed of filter effects
  • software bias offset
    Notes
  • author of the software is Peter Norman, who developed the Aegis AudioMaster I & II and changed later to RamScan - therefore, there are a lot of similarities between the programs
  • the AudioEngineer sampling software was sold in the US as Aegis Audiomaster III
  • a cost reduced bundle was offered by GSOFT with a mono sound sampler: Audio Engineer Junior
