    Memory Expansion
  • 768 kB RAM expansion - expands the A1000 to 512 kB ChipRAM and 512 kB Ranger RAM (slow FastRAM)
  • 24 64k×4 DIPs
  • supports two different address ranges for the 512 kB FastRAM:
    • $080000 - $0fffff - 1 MB contiguous RAM in total
    • $180000 - $1fffff - results in two separate 512 kB blocks
  • with a soldered in SPDT switch, the two address ranges can be easily changed
  • the A1000 front slot lacks the required amount of signals for addressing 768 kB, so 14 wires (ribbon cable) to four ICs have to be soldered in the A1000
  • supports PAL and NTSC A1000, i.e. with and without daughterboard
  • with Kickstart 1.1, the memory has to be added via AddMem command
  • with Kickstart 1.2, the FastRAM is detected as ChipRAM by the Amiga, therefore a command has to be executed to change it to FastRAM, after that the memory has to be added via AddMem command as well
  • a special Kickstart disk ('MegaKick 1.2') was available as an option which automatically enables the additional 512 kB
  • connects to the front panel expansion slot - slim expansion, fits under the original front cover
  • supports disable switch, needs to be soldered in
  • expansion was available without RAMs, to be added by the user
