- with the use of the boot ROMs, this was one of the earliest hard disk expansions to provide true Autoboot (no floppy disks required) on the A1000
- holding the left mouse button during startup, the system starts off the floppy disk after Kickstart is loaded from hard disk
- specific A500 host bus adapter available as an option - expansion was always delivered with A1000 adapter
- hard disk case is fan-less, which results in quiet operation but also hard disks running quite hot
- supports interleave factor 0, resulting in fast transfer rates (write transfers >200 kB/s, read transfers >300 kB/s)
- supports FastFileSystem with newer drivers
